Common questions

What is LePrince?
LePrince is an app for discovering films worth seeing on the big screen, and for telling cinemas which ones you want.
You browse indie, arthouse, international and other non-blockbuster films, signal the ones you'd turn up for, and get notified, often with an offer, when they're playing near you.
Where is it available?
Discover films anywhere in the world from day one. Live showtimes and offers are currently available in the UK, with more of Europe and North America coming very soon.
Is it free?
Yes. LePrince is free to download and use. You discover films, follow your cinemas and signal what you want at no cost.
Who is it for?
If you like going to the cinema, LePrince is for you. You don't need to be a film buff to enjoy it. The feed does the hard work of surfacing films worth your time, so you discover great cinema without having to hunt for it.
Does signaling commit me to anything?
No. There's no pre-booking, no payment and no obligation. A signal is just you saying you'd like to see a film on the big screen. You decide whether to go when it's actually playing.
Do i need an account?
You can browse as a guest to get a feel for the app. To signal films, follow your cinemas and receive offers, you'll set up a profile, which takes a moment with Google, Apple or email.
Will my signal really change what gets screened?
That's the whole point of LePrince. Normally, if only thirty people in a city want to see a particular film, it never plays, no cinema can justify a screening for a crowd it can't see. With LePrince, that demand becomes visible: a cinema can see those thirty signals in one area, and we work with the film's distributor or owner to make a one-off screening worth everyone's while. Niche demand that used to disappear now has a way to reach the big screen.
what does signalling a film actually do?
It tells us, and the wider industry, that there's real demand for that film near you. Your signal joins thousands of others, and we use that combined interest to work with distributors, film owners and cinemas to get high-demand films onto the big screen, including ones that might never have been programmed on a guess.
Which films do I get offers for?
Offers are tied to films that can actually reach a screen near you. Some come from demand, when enough people signal a film, we work with its distributor or owner and a local cinema to make a screening happen. Others are partner-led, when a distributor or cinema has a film they want to put in front of the right audience, and you're someone who'd want to see it. Either way, the offer only reaches you if it matches what you've shown interest in.
What kinds of offers are there? How many offers will I get?
Three main types: a discount or benefit on tickets for a film you wanted, a special one-off screening of a film that wouldn't otherwise play near you, and last-minute deals when a cinema has seats to fill for something you'd enjoy.
There's no set number of offers, and an offer isn't guaranteed, even for a film you signalled. Offers are limited, so they won't be a steady stream; they come when a film you'd want is reaching a screen near you and there's a deal to go with it. How many you receive depends on what you've shown interest in, what's screening in your area, and how many offers are available at the time.
If I signal a film, will I always see it when it's screening?
Yes. Any film you've signalled will always show up in the app when it's playing at the cinemas you follow, so you'll never miss the chance to see it. An offer is a separate matter: you'll always get the screening, but you won't always get a deal to go with it. Think of it as two things, the film reaching you is guaranteed, the offer is a bonus when one's available.
Do you share my details with cinemas or your partners?
No. We never give cinemas, distributors or film owners your name or personal details. We only tell them how much demand there is for a film and where, as numbers, not people. They see that fifty people in an area want a film; they don't see who you are.
The offers always reach you through us. When a cinema or partner has an offer, it comes to you via LePrince, never directly from them. They never get your contact details, so the only messages you receive are the ones we send.
What data does LePrince actually use?
The films you signal, the cinemas you follow, your activity on the app and your general location, enough to build your feed, send relevant offers and understand where demand is. That's it. We don't sell your data, and we don't hand it to our partners.
There's no way for our partners or other parties to reach you on their own. All communication goes through LePrince, so you stay in control of what lands in your inbox.
You can manage your notifications and offers in the app, and you can request that we delete your data at any time. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
